Opportunities & Challenges in a New Communication Era
We have entered a new era in communication! More than 30% of people no longer watch television by the traditional means of local broadcast, cable or even satellite. Almost one third now “stream” television programs allowing them to watch as many episodes consecutively as they wish. The trend in how people watch programming will never again be the same.
The new era in communication has affected the flow of information about world missions. The cost of postage and the convenience of electronic communication brought the first wave of a new era. Now, email is fading in favor of text messaging, Twitter feeds, Facebook, and social media. Mission Services added the missions network in order to provide new era communication opportunities for those involved in world missions. While we continue to provide printing, this network allows people to “stream” as much information as anyone desires.
